Over a career spanning more than three decades, including tenure with AT&T, NCR, and Visa, Mr. Barrett held positions in: senior management, product development and management, operations, project management, marketing research, sales, and IT consulting.
In 2001, David began the final chapter of his career, becoming a professional historian and writer, by returning to his Alma Mater the University of Colorado to get a Master’s Degree in History. Since his graduation in 2006, and while still working full-time for Visa, David volunteered his time to conduct dozens of interviews for the Veterans History Project. He also provided historical research and assisted in program development for: Reda Films, and Wings Over the Rockies Air and Space Museum.
In 2012, David left corporate America and opened the doors for his new company, One With History, Inc.
In March of 2018, Mr. Barrett signed an agreement to be represented by Leticia Gomez with Savvy Literary Services, and on July 16, 2018 they completed negotiations with Diversion Books to publish "140 Days to Hiroshima: The Story of Japan's Last Chance to Avert Armageddon".

Also in 2020, David's first historical documentary, "Heroes of the Sky: The Mighty Eighth Air Force" aired as a prime time global event on National Geographic. David served at the Historical Consultant/Producer for the two hour mini-series.
